Last Sunday the 4th of December 2011 Mr Paul Schoemaker passed away at the age of 89 years.
Paul Schoemaker was one of the founders of Vaessen-Schoemaker of Deventer. After the war in which he was active in the resistance, Paul Schoemaker started in 1946 the company in Deventer together with his father in law Mr Hubert Vaessen. The company focused on the industry of natural and artificial casings, the packaging industry and the application of consumable supplies in the food industry.
His entrepreneurship and conviction that use of consumable supplies in the food industry would have a big future, led to the growth of the company. Starting at location “Zandpoort” the company moved to “De Singel” and later on to “Zweedsestraat” to find its current location since 2000 at “Munsterstraat”.
Along with the activities in Deventer, the Vaessen-Schoemaker Group also included production sites in Holten (The Netherlands), Spain, Portugal, Tunis, India and Mexico.
His entrepreneurship and involvement were a huge inspiration to the employees of Vaessen-Schoemaker. Paul Schoemaker was until recently associated to the company as managing director of the parent company.
The supervisory board, the management and the employees have sadly taken notice of the passing away of this socially engaged entrepreneur. His leadership and vision on the international business have been invaluable to the company. Paul Schoemaker was an inspiring personality and a true relationship builder inside and outside our company. |
